What Not to Do!
Do not place all your upper body weight on your wrist for long periods of time! See how my left wrist is bent. Not a good idea! If you do this, you can end up with nerve damage.
Now my pinkie and ring fingers do not work well--very weak! Also they like to remain curved and don't straighten out. In addition to that they are numb, like they are asleep all the time.
The rest of my left hand is weak as well. I have to wear this brace for the next two weeks, at least, to keep my wrist immobilized to give the nerves time to heal. Icing is also part of the treatment. Surgery is a possibility down the road. I never realized how much I use my left hand until now--simple things like opening an envelope, tying shoes or doing up buttons.

So you went to the doctor huh? I hope it heals quickly without surgery.
oh no! that doesn't sound like fun at all. hopefully you'll get better fast, especially in time for the family reunion.
I hope you get feeling back quickly. I think typing on the keyboard would be the most frustrating! Love ya.
I definately want you do to get better considering it happened while helping Christian with his Eagle Scout project. Thanks for your help.
