Our June So Far

The first week in June we spent with Cheryl and family. She had surgery for a biopsy on a new lump in her leg--it was cancer-free. What a blessing!

Christian rode up to Utah with us when we went up to support Cheryl. Addie went with us when we dropped Christian off at BYU for EFY(Especially for Youth). Addie got the letters a little mixed up--a few days after we dropped him off, she wanted to go pick Christian up at BRY. Last Thursday we made a trip to California to attend Seth's high school graduation. It was a very nice ceremony but just a tad cold. (We about froze in "sunny" California.) We do enjoy these special occasions in our grandchildren's lives. Congratulations, Seth. We are proud of you!

We went to a blueberry farm to pick fresh blueberries. This is Fred and Stan searching for the biggest, bluest berries. I don't think I have ever tasted better blueberries. Seth and Cambrie shared an "early" birthday celebration. And then . . .
we drove back to Arizona just in time for another early birthday celebration for Isis, David and Cindy's sweet little girl. Happy birthday to the three of you.

Computer Crash! Sorry No Posts Possible--Here Are Updates!

Three weeks ago my computer crashed. After two weeks with no computer I now have a new motherboard, power supply and two other boards. I have learned to take a computer apart and put it back together. By the time it was fixed (no time for blogging), we left for Utah to be with Cheryl and her family when she went in for her quarterly scans and checkup. Check out her blog at http://www.cheryl2m.blogspot.com/ for an update on that. We are just so very grateful the cancer has not spread to her lungs. Hopefully the biopsy on her leg will turn out negative. We enjoyed spending some time with Cheryl, Ben and the kids as well as being able to help out during Cheryl's surgery. We even enjoyed working in the garden and becoming acquainted with Bob! The kids sure do love Bob, treating him more like a puppy than a snake. Not my favorite for a pet but they come free and don't eat much so. . . .

On the day prior to Cheryl's surgery, we drove up to Willard and found Fred's great-grandfather's grave--Omer Call. He and his twin brother are buried next to each other. When the twins were very young and living in Nauvoo, the Prophet Joseph Smith, would bounce them on his knees. We have some of the clay marbles they brought across the plains as they immigrated to the Salt Lake Valley. They were still young boys and undoubtedly played with those marbles along the trail.

Moments with Tanya

This birthday post is a little late--sorry Tanya--but I still wanted to honor you for your birthday. Tanya was born on June 2 in New Zealand. She was a beautiful baby with big eyes and a sweet disposition. Thank you, Tanya, for adding so much to our family.
Isn't she a little doll?! As a little girl, Tanya always reminded me of the baby dolls you could buy that could talk and coo. Thanks, Tanya, for being such a delightful little girl.
When Tanya finally turned eight, it was a big time for her. She came to me and very seriously stated, " I know everything there is to know now and all I need is a set of keys." Thanks, Tanya, for always being so confident in your ability to succeed and then working for that success.

Tanya got an Arizona Republic paper route when she was twelve and delivered papers for six years. She saved up her money buying a little pickup to deliver papers with when she was old enough to drive. She was selected as the Arizona Carrier of the Year and earned a trip to Ireland as an American Young Ambassador. Thanks, Tanya, for your deligence in pursuing your goals.

Tanya was valedictorian of her high school graduating class and chose to attend BYU to further her education. She graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education from NAU. She then earned two Masters Degrees, the latest in Library Science from the University of Arizona. Thanks, Tanya, for striving for excellence throughout your school career.

Tanya's son, Christian, is the love of her life. They are such good companions. Thanks, Tanya, for giving us that grandson.
Tanya is one of the most giving people I know. Her family is very important to her and it is not unusual for her to drop off a bouquet of flowers at your home; or select movies, video games or books just so her nephews and nieces can enjoy them. She is known for her "crazyness" in a good way--she delights in laughing and having fun. She makes other people feel better just being in her presence. Thanks, Tanya, for being our friend as well as a cherished daughter.
