Beauty in the Desert

This is our planter on the front patio. It is so relaxing to sit in our library and look out on this view.
The planter on the back patio has always been a delight for me. There is something blooming in our yard all year long and the good thing is that it takes very little water.
I love this little desert daisy. I've lived in the desert all my life and never realized how beautiful our desert plants can be!
The yellow and orange bells bloom year round. The hotter it is the better they like it.
As we sit down to eat in our kitchen, this is what we see out of our bay window. The bougainvilla is a mass of red. I've never seen it as beautiful.

Empty Nest

If you have been following the saga of my hummingbirds, you will know they are about four weeks old now. The babies learned to fly while we were in South Carolina but they still stick pretty close to our backyard. The two little birds were sitting side by side on a branch but by the time I got my camera, one had moved to another tree. The one in the picture let me get within four feet of it and then it only flew to a higher limb. It appears to be very comfortable around me. Does that mean this little bird has imprinted my image and hence is used to seeing me? Probably pretty far-fetched but they did hatch on my birthday!

Great Visit with Laura, Jonathan and Family in South Carolina

We got to go to one of Miriam's and Samuel's trackmeets. They both are pole vaulters and Jonathan is their coach.
Surrounded by my Berry grandchildren. Aren't they are good looking group?
We enjoyed going to the Columbia, SC Temple with Laura and Jonathan.

Historic Charleston

We visited Boone Plantation just outside of Charleston. It has a 3/4 mile road into the main house lined with huge old oak trees that meet overhead. Several movies have been filmed in this location.

The historic district of Charleston has many beautiful old mansions. We walked many miles down those old roads looking at the homes and enjoying the spring flowers.

Big News

A couple posts ago I had you compare a snowman Cheryl made 18 years ago, then one Brayden made just a few weeks ago and now compare those two with this one Laura and her family made 8 years ago. This is a Connecticut snowman!
Now the big news. Laura and Jonathan are giving us our 22nd grandchild and their ninth child. Whew, what a houseful. It's a good thing they have a three story home.
