It was wonderful to witness the baptism of Demetrius, the son of David and Cynthia on May 14. He is a fine young man.

By Small and Simple Things Are Great Things Brought to Pass
This theme for Women's Conference comes from Alma 37:6-7. It was inspirational, enlightening and just pure fun to attend Women's Conference with two of my daughters, Maria and Cheryl. Some of my favorite quotations I gleamed from this conference are. . .
Virginia Pearce
Prayer is an expression of agency and grows out of humility.
Prayer reconciles our will with that of the Father. Along the way we experience the tender mercies as we come to trust Him.
John and Kim Bthyway "Cleave Unto the Covenants that Thou Hath Made"
Going on a mission is something you do; becoming a missionary is part of the Abrahamic Covenant.
God is about freedom. Satan is about bondage.
Julie Beck
A woman's role is to create life, to nurture and teach. This is a sacred duty which cannot be nogotiated with the Lord or given away.
Home is where the Lord expects the priesthood to be most evident.
Cathy Chamberlain "A Small Beginning in a Grove of Trees"
The Lord will honor the righteous desires of our hearts.
Do I care more about how others see me than how the Lord sees me?!
Susan Porter and Silvia Allred "Pick the Eternal Priorities"
Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.--Goethe
Sort tasks into "essential, necessary and nice-to-do" and then be engaged in what matters most--the essentials.
Russell and Lolly Osguthorpe "I Did Frankly Forgive Them"
Develop a forgiving heart, then no one can offend or hurt us and the pain will disappear.
As we give up anger and desire for revenge, we are learning our way back home to our Heavenly Father.
The 3 D's of Successful Forgiveness: Desire, Decision, Determination
David Bednar "By small and simply things"
Deliberate and consistant performance adds oil to our lamps.
I believe many, if not all, of the most satisfying and memorable accomplishments in our homes, in the Church, in our jobs and professions and in our communities will be the product of this important spiritual pattern--of small and simple things. We should find great comfort in the fact that ordinary people who faithfully, diligently and consistently do simple things that are right before God will bring forth extraordinary results.
It is through living the gospel in small and simple ways that individuals are able to bless all around them and generations to come.
One class that I attended titled, "Scriptural Heroines," has given me my next goal in scripture study. As soon as I finished reading the Doctrine and Covenants which will complete a year-long goal of reading all the standard works, I will start with the Old Testament again and read through the standard works but this time I will be seaching out those women found in the scriptures that I can learn meaningful and valuable lessons from. My daughters gave me a wonderful book, Women of the Old Testament, by Camille Fronk Olson with beautiful paintings by Elspeth Young, for Mother's Day that will be a tremendous asset in my study. Hopefully this study will inspire me to greater discipleship.
