I Can Hardly Believe It--Wonder of Wonders, Miracle of Miracles!

I was out back experimenting with my camera taking pictures of our snapdragons, Brayden's favorite flower, when a little hummingbird started diving at me.  I have learned this usually means she has a nest nearby.  I started looking but simply could not find it.  I was thinking. . . wouldn't it be neat to have a hummingbird nest in our Texas Mountain Laurel for the third year in a row but. . . I couldn't find a nest!

Later in the day, I raised the blind on our baywindow in our bedroom which looks out at our Texas Mountain Laurel. I was just standing there when a hummingbird with a stick in her beak came up, hovered outside the window as if beaconing me to follow her with my eyes, and then flew into the laurel. I was able to see where her nest was! Wow, an excellent view from the window but even better while standing on the short wall on our patio. I can get a wonderful view straight down into the nest as you can see in this picture, the hummingbird has lined her nest with soft little feathers.

Early this morning I stepped up on the wall to start taking pictures of the progress this little hummer is making on her nest building, while I was taking a picture of the nest she flew into it with a tiny fluffy grey feather. I caught her with the feather in her beak. This was a shot of pure luck!  Can you  believe it, three years of hummingbird babies outside our baywindow?!  This is really a wonderful miracle of God's goodness to us.
